New Happy Rhodes CD
Happy Rhodes is an independent musician and friend of Elixir (by “friend,” we mean we’ve used her music in several shows and she never once threatened litigation).
This month marks the arrival of her new CD, Find Me, her first since 1998’s Many Worlds Are Born Tonight. Learn more about Happy (yes, that’s her real name) and listen to song samples on her Official Fan Site. Her new album is available at CDBaby.
On a sidenote, Happy holds a very dear place in the heart of our Resident Playwright.
Once upon a time, when Alex was but a wee thing, Happy made him the envy of all his Florida cousins by consenting to a telephone interview for his high school paper. Happy had just released her eighth album, Building the Colossus (pictured), and obviously had better things to do. But she stayed on the phone for an hour answering every one of Alex’s carefully-drafted questions and proceeded to keep him on the phone for another hour asking him questions in return. To thank her for making him feel so grown-up, Alex sent her a copy of Aliens: The Director’s Cut on VHS (Aliens was one of her favorite movies, as he’d found out during the interview). A few weeks later, she called to thank him and left a message with his mother (!).

Got something to say?
Hi Alex, thanks for helping spread the word about Happy! You gave her official web site but she hasn’t updated it yet with information about the new album. If people want to hear what Happy sounds like, they can either go to my Song Samples site (I put the URL in the “Website” area), or check out her main MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/happyrhodes (which I maintain). I’m a Happy geek and I loved reading your story. Thank you for that! - Vickie
